Before her sister's birth, the protagonist received constant affection, expensive gifts, and devoted parental attention. That dynamic shifted completely when the newborn arrived. At five years old, she lowered the air conditioner by a single degree to cool the infant, prompting her mother to strike her and confine her inside a refrigerator with a locked door. Unable to escape, she remained trapped until a neighbor forced entry and rescued her. Her parents, convinced she had perished, collapsed in tearful apologies upon her return, forcing her to confront the people who nearly caused her death.
