Evelyn served as the Sacred Mountain's most skilled rope guide until an avalanche gave Saintess Celeste a chance to frame her for severing a rescue line. Duke Adrian, Evelyn's fiancé, accepted the accusation and sentenced her to three years kneeling on frozen steps to fund her brother Noah's medicine and their orphanage. The humiliation peaks when Adrian orders her to lick Celeste's boots. A black raven then delivers notice of Noah's death. With nothing left to protect, Evelyn tears up the atonement contract and begins dismantling the Saintess's fabricated sainthood.
