Josie spent three years concealed at the all-wolf Redhaven under Alpha Deck Volan. Labeled wolfless because her animal would not rise, she was dismissed as the girl next door when Deck bit cheer flyer Paige on Pulse Night instead of marking Josie as promised. She leaves for Moonridge and awakens a gold wolf while keeping her same body. Returning transformed, she earns the captain jacket through her own merit. Deck now demands a true mark, but Cade refuses to grant a false one. Josie retains the coat, choosing the ally who stood beside her in the rain when everyone claimed she had no wolf.
