After seven years of long-distance commitment, Ellie returns to find her boyfriend sharing a bed with her closest friend. The betrayal is compounded by her ability to hear his internal narration, which reveals calculated coldness starkly contrasting his desperate spoken declarations of love. This dual-frequency experience forces her to process the infidelity through both his lies and his unfiltered truth. The confrontation escalates until he shoves her down a staircase, an act that severs the telepathic connection and her remaining tolerance.
