Ivy has lingered for years on the periphery of Kieran, a charismatic hockey captain who accepts her loyalty but refuses any real commitment. During a practice scrimmage, his teammates attempt to rattle the opposing captain, Roman, by sending Ivy onto the ice with a water bottle as a distraction. The tactic fails when Roman, known for his ferocity in the game, responds with unexpected gentleness and sincere interest in her. As Ivy experiences what consistent attention and respect feel like, Kieran becomes jealous and tries to reclaim her place in his orbit. Unwilling to return to waiting, Ivy chooses Roman, a decision that represents reclaiming her self-worth and setting firm boundaries.
