Authorities banish Lyra, a blind and seemingly powerless young woman, into a tower teeming with lethal creatures, intending her death. Instead, the realm's deadliest beast allows her to touch it, and an Ancient Dragon coils around her in protection. Both entities brand her with their Beast Marks, revealing themselves as two of four ancient sovereigns who once devastated the world. The kingdom watches in terror as these legendary monsters declare the exiled girl their master, while Lyra remains unaware of the significance, believing them merely to be affectionate pets until one assumes human form and whispers that her blindness stems from a curse.
