Love Is Not a Number centers on a girlfriend who receives a System displaying a Demand Index that measures how much everyone around her supposedly needs her presence. Her boyfriend receives a score of thirty, which she treats as proof of weak affection. Her male assistant consistently receives higher numbers, so she begins holding an umbrella for him in the rain and driving out of her way to take him home. When her boyfriend falls ill and stays in bed, she chooses shopping with the assistant instead and says she will care for him only after finishing with the assistant. The boyfriend then decides to spend New Year alone with his mother.
