During a ranked match, a flashbang blinds a competitive gamer who awakens inside the post-apocalyptic novel he criticized, occupying the body of a namesake cannon-fodder character. Locked outside an armored vehicle and surrounded by Tier Six zombies, he hears his character's wife urge gunners to withhold fire during a camp-wide livestream while her male friend hopes the sacrifice secures them inner-city access. In the original plot, the character begs futilely before being devoured. Drawing on years of high-stakes gaming reflexes, the transmigrator seizes a high-frequency concussion grenade, smashes the vehicle's ventilation valve, and throws the device inside to redirect the horde.
