On a night when the temperature plunges to minus twenty degrees, a mother forces her twin daughter Helen to remain outside while she takes the girl's brother to an amusement park, claiming the decision ensures absolute fairness. Helen dies in the snowdrift at the doorstep, and her spirit lingers to observe the fallout: her mother collapses into madness, her father is sentenced to prison, and her surviving brother loses the ability to speak. The narrative examines how a single act of calculated cruelty, disguised as impartiality, shatters a family and leaves each member bearing a permanent wound.
