After seventeen years raising four abandoned boys into powerful executives at Leeds Group, the narrator learns they stood by while her biological daughter Elena was assaulted in a school bathroom, choosing instead to protect an outsider named Sabrina. The sons then systematically strip Elena of possessions and opportunities, reassigning a dress, a lake house, a private studio, and a business proposal to Sabrina while dismissing Elena's protests as selfishness. When the brothers move to seize control of the narrator's company and family trust, they miscalculate: she once walked away from the Moretti criminal empire to give Elena a normal life, and Leeds Group is only one legitimate piece of a far larger power she still controls.
