Heiress Sophia Carter owes twelve million dollars with no assets left except Seven, the obsolete domestic unit that raised her. Rather than scrap the robot, she quietly enters it in the Los Angeles Mech Combat League, where corporate-sponsored machines battle for huge purses. Seven survives early matches using only a mop and archived fight data, toppling heavier opponents until a hidden corporate adversary begins sabotaging the unit. Martial-arts master Cheng intervenes, retraining Seven in the essence of combat so the machine can reveal the conspiracy. In the process, Seven's true identity as PROJECT SEVEN, a buried super-weapon, surfaces, drawing the attention of a masked mastermind as a larger conflict erupts.
