Baldr, the God of Light, is executed by his father Odin while Loki parades in his flayed skin. The fire giant Surtr, whose life Baldr once spared, devastates Asgard and shatters Mjolnir to tear him from death. Resurrected with ruthless purpose, Baldr strips Loki's hide and drives nails through the Allfather. That patricide awakens the root-dragon Nidhogg, compelling Surtr to surrender his essential fire. From the resulting ash, Baldr ascends as the Supreme Creator and forges a new universe where Surtr burns eternally as its sun.
