At Poppy's graduation, Nora witnesses her daughter call for a father who never appears. Hours later, she discovers Elliot doting on his ex-wife's child with the attentiveness he withheld from his own family for eleven years. Recognizing a pattern where her increasing competence enabled his withdrawal, Nora ends the marriage. During the mandatory ninety-day waiting period, Elliot must confront the responsibilities he avoided while Nora rebuilds the identity she surrendered.
