Anya Beaufort is raised solely to replace Carlyle, the sister who drowned twenty years earlier. After winning a Paris ballet gold medal on her own merit, her mother destroys the career-making letter and exiles her to Corsica. There, false doping charges lead to whipping and solitary confinement. A modern-dance manuscript and a sky-blue dress from her cousin Rayan sustain her until her mother burns both. In despair, Anya dances a final solo atop the family château clock tower and leaps to her death. Her freed soul then observes her aunt Grace and Rayan confront her parents as police footage reveals the truth, shattering the family’s fragile peace.
