Edward Grant stages a serious illness to observe how his children respond when responsibility demands sacrifice. His sons and their wives avoid the burden with quick justifications, leaving the aging father without support. In contrast, his daughter Anna and her husband Paul liquidate personal property and take on significant debt to secure his treatment. The ruse lays bare a stark divide: those who prioritize inheritance over kinship, and those whose devotion endures when comfort vanishes and real cost appears.
