Brooklyn attorney Sophie Lin negotiates a one-year romance contract with CEO Alexander Hale worth five million dollars to cover her mother's denied kidney transplant costs. A family trust requires Alexander to marry by thirty-five or lose Hale Group control to his uncle Victor. After Sophie moves into the penthouse, Victor stalls the charity review for her mother's surgery, leaks the agreement to the press, forces a disappearance clause, manipulates a rival's mortgage, and orders a hit on Sophie. Socialite Olivia Vanderbilt offers a billion-dollar dowry to replace Sophie, but later switches sides after discovering Victor's hidden asset clause. Sophie uncovers Alexander's seven-year secret: he has quietly funded her mother's care for three years, and their connection traces back to a stormy night and a car crash. At the shareholders' meeting, convenience-store footage and crash evidence expose Victor's forged check, leading to his FBI arrest outside Hale Tower. On Alexander's thirty-fifth birthday, Sophie gives him a new umbrella and he presents a lifetime contract permitting love, with a breach penalty of a lifetime paid by the proposer.
