Palace maid Cersei fled the capital six years ago after giving birth to King Lionel's twin daughters, Karen and Liana, raising them in obscurity far from court intrigue. She assumed the young monarch had moved on, but he spent every year searching for her. Circumstances now force their return to the palace, where the girls' royal lineage emerges as the linchpin for the kingdom's stability. Buried secrets surface and rivals gather in the shadows, threatening the children's safety. Lionel faces an impossible choice: uphold tradition and abandon them, or defy the aristocracy and risk his crown to protect the woman he never forgot and the heirs he never knew existed.
