Valentino endured daily torture in a dog cage until his biological parents, the Costellos, reclaimed him at fifteen. Instead of welcome, he found Brett, the son raised in his place, threatening him with a knife. Their mother declared equal love for both boys, yet over three years Valentino lived in a cramped closet, ate scraps, and walked miles to school while Brett enjoyed luxury suites, private chefs, and chauffeured rides. When a government Fairness System promising absolute equality activated, the family celebrated, believing Brett would never suffer again. The system launched, but the promised balance never arrived; instead, the Costellos began to unravel one by one.
